In early September, two fishing boats from Gloucester turned out for voluntary inspections to see if they had all the necessary safety equipment required buy the new federal regulations. When the examinations were completed 2 to 3 hours later, the captains were given a list of gear they needed to have on board – but no notice of violation.
The latest fishing boats for the 1999 season are presented. Among them are the Bertram 51, Cabo 47, Cape Fear 60, Hatteras 55, Henriques 50, Luhrs 50, Mediterranean 54, Merritt 80, Ocean 56, Post 50, Riviera 48, Roscioli Donzi 73, Rybovich 72 and Viking 65.
Twelve fishing boats were evaluated for their performance and value. The boats range in price from $225 to $1,099 and 11 have pontoons. The $795 O.W.S. Water Master, $1,099 Creek Co. Odyssey 916 and $895 O.E. Lake/River Special were selected as editor’s choices.
